New Delhi, Oct 3: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, on Thursday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects totaling ₹919 crore in Gujarat. These initiatives, spearheaded by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), encompass a wide range of sectors, including health, education, public libraries, parks, and facilities for small street vendors, according to a statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Addressing the gathering, Shah emphasized the significance of the Municipal Nagar Prathmik Siksha Samiti’s modern school construction projects. He expressed gratitude to AMC for its efforts, stating that all municipal primary schools within his parliamentary constituency have now been transformed into model institutions. Shah highlighted that these initiatives by the Primary Education Committee would play a crucial role in shaping India’s future, stating, “If children are properly nurtured through these efforts, there is no doubt that India’s future is bright.”
Reflecting on the positive changes, Shah noted how encouraging it is to see children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds showing interest in various subjects, such as science, art, and music. “Witnessing their enthusiasm removes any sense of despair, and it reinforces our confidence in India’s future,” he added. In addition to education, Shah outlined several other key initiatives launched across seven assembly constituencies in Ahmedabad. These include projects aimed at improving child nutrition, exercise facilities, knowledge-enhancing libraries for adolescents, water collection ponds, the planting of four million saplings annually, as well as the construction of roads, overbridges, hospitals, primary health centers, and schools.
On the issue of cleanliness, Shah praised AMC’s commitment to advancing Ahmedabad’s position in the national cleanliness rankings. While acknowledging that the city may not secure the top position in the current survey, he encouraged the Corporation to make a fresh start and set ambitious goals. “Efforts should be made to ensure that Ahmedabad achieves the top rank in the cleanliness campaign next year,” Shah urged.
The event marked a significant stride toward further development in Gujarat, with various initiatives expected to uplift the region and enhance the quality of life for its residents.
