The announcement, made through a virtual ceremony from Tatanagar, marks a significant step towards enhancing connectivity and economic growth in the region.
Six New Vande Bharat Trains: A Major Boost
Among the highlights of the ceremony was the launch of six new Vande Bharat trains, designed to enhance travel across key routes connecting Jharkhand with neighboring states. These routes include Tatanagar-Patna, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Bhagalpur-Howrah, and Gaya-Howrah. The introduction of these high-speed trains is expected to significantly reduce travel times, boost tourism, and facilitate economic activities across the region.
Distribution of PMAY-G Benefits
In addition to the railway projects, PM Modi distributed sanction letters to 32,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). He also announced the release of the first installment of Rs 32 crore for this scheme. The PMAY-G initiative aims to provide financial assistance for the construction of pucca houses for rural residents, thereby improving their living standards.
A Vision for Jharkhand’s Prosperity
During his address, Prime Minister Modi expressed a strong commitment to Jharkhand’s development, praising the state’s potential to become one of India’s most prosperous regions. He emphasized that the government’s focus is on comprehensive development, encompassing infrastructure, economic growth, and social welfare.
The PM also acknowledged the significance of Karma Parv, a local festival dedicated to nature worship, noting his reception at Ranchi airport where a symbol of the festival was presented to him. He highlighted the festival’s cultural importance and expressed his best wishes to the people of Jharkhand on this auspicious occasion. The Prime Minister underscored the broader economic impact of the new railway projects, stating that enhanced connectivity will stimulate regional business activities, support professionals, and benefit students. He specifically noted that the Varanasi-Deoghar Vande Bharat service would boost pilgrimage tourism, making it easier for visitors to travel between Kashi and Deoghar.
Modi also highlighted several key infrastructure projects, including the laying of the foundation stone for the Madhupur Bye Pass line in Deoghar district. This new line aims to alleviate train delays on the Howrah-Delhi mainline and reduce travel time between Giridih and Jasidih. Additionally, the Hazaribagh Town Coaching Depot will facilitate the maintenance of coaching stocks, while the doubling of the Kurkura-Kanaroan line will improve rail connectivity to local steel industries.
The Prime Minister detailed the substantial increase in railway investment for Jharkhand, with over Rs 7,000 crore allocated in this year’s budget. This represents a 16-fold increase compared to the budget from a decade ago. Modi commended Jharkhand for achieving 100% electrification of its railway lines and noted the ongoing rejuvenation of more than 50 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Railway Station scheme.
