New Delhi, 03 Feb 2024– The sports meet closing ceremony was organized at New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp, New Delhi. Sh. Gautam Gambhir, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Padma Shree, Arjuna Awardee and former international cricket player attended the event as the Chief Guest, joining him as Guest of Honour was, Sh. Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, and Sh. Jaspal Rana, a former international shooting Gold Medalist, Padma Shree and Arjuna Awardee joined as Special Guest . The other revered guests included Sh. V.P. Singh from ONGC and Sh. Kailash Singh Pangte from IOC, Smt. Ritu Arora, President PFWS, Smt. Jyoti Chahal, Sh. Sanjay Kumar, Spl. CP/Welfare and Sh. Kumar Gyanesh, DCP/Welfare graced the occasion.
Earlier, Police families welfare society (PFWS) organized Annual Sports Meet 2024 from 31st January to 2nd February. It hosted events in different sports disciplines of Athletics, Badminton, Shooting, Wrestling, and various matches in Basketball, Football, cricket, and kabaddi at different locations in Delhi. Hundreds of players participated in the om different sports event. Out of total 120 medals, PFWS clinched 54 medals (24 Gold, 14 Silver, and 16 Bronze). PFWS also bagged 4 Team trophies out of 9.
The event started with the welcome of Chief Guest Sh. Gautam Gambhir, Guest of Honour Sh. Sanjay Arora, CP Delhi, Special Guest Sh. Jaspal Rana, distinguished guests of IOC, ONGC. The revered guests felicitated the winners of the Sports Meet with trophies and rewarded the runners-up and winning teams. The PFWS players who have performed exceptionally well in the field of sports at the national and international levels were also felicitated with medals and were also rewarded.
Chief Guest Sh. Gautam Gambhir and Special Guest Sh. Jaspal Rana motivated the players by sharing their experiences with them.
Sh. Sanjay Arora, CP Delhi, in his address stated that PFWS is not only working towards the all-around development of police families but also working towards the empowerment of the families. He further thanked Sh. Gautam Gambhir and Sh. Jaspal Rana for motivating the players.
Smt. Ritu Arora, President PFWS in her address praised the sporting prowess of the players of PFWS and thanked ONGC and IOC for their support in making the event successful.

The event concluded with the release of tri-color balloons with the banner of PFWS-Mission Olympics celebrating the spirit of zeal and sportsmanship.
