Unified Portal for Amusement Activities Simplifies Licensing Process in Delhi

New Delhi, July 8, 2024: In a significant move towards enhancing ease of doing business in the amusement sector, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, launched the ‘Public Amusement Portal’ today. The event, held at the NDMC Convention Centre on Jai Singh Road, New Delhi, saw the attendance of notable dignitaries, including Chief Secretary of Delhi Sh. Naresh Kumar, Commissioner of Police Sh. Sanjay Arora, Special CP Sh. Robin Hibu, Commissioner of MCD Sh. Ashwani Kumar, and Jt. CP/Licensing Sh. B S Jaiswal.

In his address, Shri Saxena highlighted that this digital transformation marks a significant leap forward in augmenting “Ease-of-Doing-Business,” as envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He emphasized the strides made in the last two years in rationalizing, demystifying, and easing the regulation and licensing procedures, which include the launch of the Unified Portal for Eating and Lodging Establishments, extended operating hours for bars and restaurants, open-air dining, and the permission for establishments to operate on a 24×7 basis.

The newly launched Unified Portal for Amusement Activities will simplify and unify the licensing process for venues such as amusement parks, auditoriums, and video game parlors in the capital. Developed by the Licensing Unit of Delhi Police in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the portal aims to enhance the efficiency of licensing processes across Delhi.

Key features of the Unified Portal include:

  • Simplified application procedures accessible online from anywhere.
  • Simultaneous submission to all relevant agencies for efficient processing.
  • Automated updates and notifications on application status.
  • Real-time correction of deficiencies within the portal.
  • Transparent and streamlined approval process ensuring prompt statutory clearances.

The portal builds upon the success of the modified unified portal for Licensing of Eating and Lodging establishments launched in 2023 and now encompasses performances at licensed/unlicensed premises, amusement parks, auditoriums, and video game parlors.

Shri Saxena stated, “By embracing technology, we have today launched this Unified Portal for Amusement Activities, which will overhaul, simplify, and unify the licensing process for various venues in the capital.”

The initiative represents a significant step towards supporting Delhi’s vibrant entertainment industry and improving business operations in the amusement sector.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Chandan Chaudhary, Addl. CP/Licensing. The event was graced by senior formations of Delhi Police and other stakeholders
