Mumbai, May 17 , 2024 : In a last ditch effort to woo the final batch of voters in Maharashtra ahead of the state’s fifth and final phase of Lok Sabha polls, both the NDA and INDI bloc have organised mega campaigns in Mumbai on Friday evening. With polling scheduled on Monday, May 20, both the sides have just over 24 hours to pitch their claims before voters across the 10 parliamentary seats in Mumbai and Mumbai suburbans, besides the adjoining Thane and Palghar districts, cast their choices. The political protagonists will vie not just amongst themselves but also the Friday releases in theatres and the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches scheduled in Mumbai as the weekend kicks in. As per the NDA sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi after attending election rallies in northern parts of country will address a campaign at Shivaji Park, alongside Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, and Union Minister of State Ramdas Athawale on Friday evening. BJP is contesting three seats in the city, with Shinde’s Shiv Sena contesting the other three in Mumbai. The INDI Alliance and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will hold a mega rally at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP (SCP) president Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, MPCC president Nana Patole and Congress Legislature Party leader Balasaheb Thorat will address the rally. The UBT Sena is contesting four Lok Sabha seats while Congress two in Mumbai. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will also address election rallies in Nashik and Dhule districts in support of Mahayuti candidates. Campaigning on all these constituencies will end on May 18 evening.
