New Delhi, December 12 — The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), constituted under the Legal Services Authorities (LSA) Act, 1987, continues to expand and strengthen access to justice for economically and socially weaker sections of society. The authority ensures that no citizen is denied justice due to financial constraints or other disabilities, in line with Section 12 of the Act. It also facilitates amicable dispute resolution through the organization of Lok Adalats.
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance timely and effective legal assistance, 16 Legal Aid Centres have been established under the supervision of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. These centres operate with the support of Panel Lawyers and Legal Aid Defense Counsels to provide free and competent legal assistance.
According to official data, 458 citizens have received free legal aid during the year 2025–26 up to September 2025. These services include legal representation, counseling, assistance in court procedures, and support for dispute settlement through Lok Adalats.
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice, and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, shared this information during a Lok Sabha session today. He emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening legal aid mechanisms and ensuring justice reaches the most vulnerable sections of society.
