New Delhi, July 16, 2025 (ANI):Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra on Wednesday conducted inspections at 17 strategic entry points across the capital ahead of the arrival of Kanwariyas during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. These entry gates have been specially set up to welcome the devotees and are named after the 12 Jyotirlingas and Lord Shiva, reflecting the spiritual significance of the event.
Speaking to , Mishra announced that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will formally welcome the Kanwariyas as they enter Delhi on July 20. “The Delhi government is ready to welcome the Kanwariyas. These gates have been built at 17 places and are named after the 12 Jyotirlingas and Lord Shiva. This reflects the cultural depth and devotion of our arrangements,” he said.
Highlighting the scale of preparations, Mishra noted a significant rise in public participation and camp setups this year. “Last time, we had 170 camps across Delhi. This year, that number has more than doubled to 374 camps. It clearly shows the people’s acceptance and enthusiasm for the Chief Minister’s vision,” he added.
The Delhi government has collaborated with the Traffic Police, Public Works Department (PWD), Municipal Corporation, Civil Defence, and other volunteer bodies to ensure a smooth and safe experience for the pilgrims. Arrangements include traffic control, sanitation, medical aid, water supply, and food distribution.
In a separate development, a group of Kanwad Yatris from Gurugram drew attention by carrying a massive 800–1,000 kg golden Shiva Kanwad on wheels. This unique Kanwad, crafted in Sonipat, holds approximately 40 litres of sacred Gangajal and has captivated onlookers along the pilgrimage route.
Sonu Rana, one of the pilgrims, shared, “This Kanwad is unlike anything before. It weighs nearly 1,000 kg and is a symbol of our dedication. We’ll be covering nearly 250 kilometres with it.”
The Kanwar Yatra, which commenced on July 10, sees lakhs of devotees collect holy water from the Ganges and walk miles to offer it at Shiva temples. The pilgrimage is marked by deep devotion, fasting, and spiritual discipline.
Authorities continue to urge the public to cooperate with safety measures and celebrate the yatra in a peaceful and disciplined manner.
