Iran Supreme National Security Council Declares Historic Victory as Two Week Talks with United States Agreed

Tehran signals conditional ceasefire while preparing for high stake negotiations

Tehran, April 8: Iran’s Supreme National Security Council on Wednesday claimed a major strategic success and confirmed its agreement to hold two week talks with the United States to work out ceasefire terms.

The council described the development as a historic moment, stating that its approach had pushed Washington to step back from immediate military escalation and open the door for dialogue.

Officials said the decision followed a move by US President Donald Trump to pause planned strikes, creating space for diplomatic engagement between the two sides.

Iran maintained that the current pause in hostilities is temporary and does not mark the end of the conflict, while stressing that its forces remain on alert.

The upcoming discussions are expected to focus on key issues such as sanctions relief, security guarantees, and regional stability, with the Strait of Hormuz likely to remain central to negotiations.

Both nations are expected to rely on intermediaries during the talks, as efforts continue to avoid further escalation in the region.

Despite cautious optimism, tensions remain high, and the outcome of the negotiations will play a crucial role in determining whether the situation moves toward de escalation or renewed conflict.
