Faridabad | June 21- In celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs,  Nirmala Sitharaman, took part in a vibrant yoga session hosted at the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM) in Faridabad, Delhi-NCR. The event brought together over 400 participants, including senior government officials, secretaries from the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs, and the Chairman of CBDT, who collectively embraced the spirit of wellness and unity through yoga.

This year’s global theme, Yoga for One Earth, One Health, underscored the deep connection between human well-being and planetary health, echoing India’s ancient wisdom of “Sarve Santu Niramaya” – a call for universal freedom from illness.

The AJNIFM gathering began with a live telecast of Prime Minister  Narendra Modi’s address from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where he led a massive yoga demonstration along the beachfront. An estimated 5 lakh participants joined the Prime Minister at the coastal venue, as yoga sessions unfolded simultaneously at more than 3.5 lakh locations across the country — a testament to India’s evolving yoga revolution.

Yoga instructors from the Morarji Desai Yoga Institute guided the session at AJNIFM, leading participants through a structured 45-minute practice. The event not only emphasized physical health but also reinforced yoga’s role in fostering mental clarity and social harmony.

This year’s International Yoga Day also saw innovative initiatives like “Yoga with Family” and “Yoga Unplugged” to engage youth and promote collective participation via platforms like MyGov and MyBharat.

Since the United Nations General Assembly adopted India’s proposal in 2015, June 21st has become a symbol of India’s soft power and cultural leadership. From the UN Headquarters in New York to the majestic valleys of Srinagar, PM Modi has consistently led the charge, transforming yoga into a global health movement.
