New Delhi | March 17, 2026: India on Tuesday strongly condemned Pakistan following deadly strikes on a hospital in Kabul that reportedly killed around 400 people and injured over 250. The Ministry of External Affairs described the attack as “barbaric, cowardly and unconscionable,” accusing Islamabad of attempting to portray a massacre as a military operation.
In its statement, India highlighted that the attack took place during the holy month of Ramzan, calling the timing especially disturbing. It stressed that targeting a hospital and its patients cannot be justified under any circumstances, terming it a grave violation of humanitarian principles.
The government further stated that the strike undermines Afghanistan’s sovereignty and poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability. It also accused Pakistan of continuing a pattern of reckless actions beyond its borders to divert attention from internal challenges.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has denied carrying out strikes on civilian infrastructure, maintaining that its operations were aimed only at military targets in Afghanistan.
