Indore- In a remarkable placement season, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore has emerged as a top performer among India’s premier engineering institutions. The institute reported a record-breaking 88% placement rate for the 2024–25 academic year, with over 500 job offers and five students securing annual packages exceeding ₹1 crore — the highest in the institute’s history.
The surge reflects the growing demand for IIT Indore graduates across a wide range of industries, making it a “package powerhouse” for engineering aspirants across the country.
Compared to 2023, when only one student landed a crore-plus package, this year has seen substantial salary growth across the board — even minimum packages have increased significantly. The average annual package rose by 13%, now standing at ₹27 lakh per annum.
The placement drive attracted over 150 top recruiters from diverse sectors, including:
Core Engineering
Fintech & Banking
Automobile & Energy
Semiconductors & Consulting
Construction & Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs)
Despite this placement success, IIT Indore faced a drop in the QS World University Rankings 2026, slipping to 556th place from 396th in 2023.
Addressing this concern, Director Prof. Suhas Joshi acknowledged the fall and announced strategic reforms to boost the institute’s global standing. Key focus areas include:
Research output and patents
Innovation and startup ecosystem
Global academic collaborations
Student exchange and faculty partnerships
IIT Indore has already signed 118 MoUs across 34 countries, demonstrating its commitment to global engagement and academic excellence. The institute now supports a vibrant community of over 3,000 students and 220 faculty members, with long-term plans to improve both academic and industry connect.
With a consistent rise in placement performance and a growing network of global collaborations, IIT Indore is rapidly establishing itself as one of India’s most promising IITs — offering both world-class education and career-defining opportunities.
