New Delhi | 15 March 2026: A dedicated self-defence awareness and training session was successfully conducted at the ICSI Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) premises in Prasad Nagar, New Delhi, as part of the “Gyan Vridhi Programme.” The initiative was organised under the leadership of Santosh Pandey, Chairperson, ICSI-NIRC, with the objective of enhancing safety awareness and skill development among members of the institute.

The programme focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of personal safety measures, particularly in challenging situations. The session highlighted the importance of alertness, preparedness, and self-confidence when navigating uncertain environments.
During the event, ACP Lakshmi Dubey interacted with the participants and spoke about the need for awareness in daily life. She encouraged individuals to stay observant of their surroundings, maintain composure in emergencies, and make use of official emergency support systems whenever necessary.

Practical training formed a key part of the workshop. Expert instructors from the SPUWAC Self-Defence Unit demonstrated simple yet effective techniques designed to help individuals respond confidently during threatening situations. The hands-on session allowed attendees to understand basic protective strategies through guided practice.

Ms. Anjitha Chepyala, IPS, DCP (SPUWAC & SPUNER), New Delhi, reiterated the commitment of Delhi Police towards women’s empowerment through education and skill-building initiatives. She stated that structured self-defence training enhances confidence, readiness, and the ability to react appropriately during emergencies. According to her, such outreach programmes play an important role in fostering community engagement and supporting safer surroundings for women.

The session concluded with active participation and positive feedback from attendees, who appreciated the collaborative efforts aimed at promoting awareness, empowerment, and public safety.
