Neeraj Ghaywan’s highly anticipated film Homebound, produced by Dharma Productions and starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, has officially hit theatres across India today. The movie received a U/A 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after undergoing several modifications.

The journey to release was not smooth. The CBFC’s Examining Committee initially flagged multiple issues, which led to the Revising Committee reviewing the film. On September 12, the committee finally cleared it, but only after 11 specific changes were made. In total, 77 seconds of footage were either cut or muted.

The edits included muting or altering dialogues in six places, removing brief snippets of conversation, and even deleting certain visuals. For instance, a five-second line, “Aloo gobhi khaate hai”, was removed, along with a short scene of a man performing puja. In another instance, the word “gyaan” was muted, and a 21-minute scene saw dialogue replaced with an alternate shot.

Despite the alterations, Homebound is now ready for audiences nationwide, marking the culmination of a meticulous certification process.
