New Delhi : A grand Pipping Ceremony was organized today at Adarsh Auditorium, Police Headquarters, Delhi, where 137 police personnel were conferred with honorary ranks on the day of their retirement. This ceremony marks the first-ever such event in the history of Delhi Police. The ceremony was presided over by Satish Golchha, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, who pipped the retiring personnel ranging from Contable to Sub-Inspector with the badges of their next higher honorary rank.

This significant initiative follows the approval accorded by Vinai Kumar Saxena, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, for the Honorary Rank Promotion Scheme for Delhi Police personnel from the rank of Constable up to Sub-Inspector. The scheme was formally announced during the Union Territory Level Workshop on Follow-up of DGsP/IGsP Conference–2025, recently held at Police Headquarters.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Robin Hibu, IPS, Spl. CP/HRD, who warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries and provided an overview of the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, stated that, keeping in view the prospects of promotion, Delhi Police had moved the proposal of giving an honorary rank to police personnel on the date of their retirement. The CP Delhi thanked Ministry of Home Affairs and the Hon’ble LG Delhi for approving this proposal.
Speaking further the CP Delhi appreciated the valuable contributions made by the 137 police personnel to the department and to society over the years of their service, and conveyed his best wishes for their future life after retirement.

The CP Delhi also appreciated the collective efforts made by Robin Hibu, Spl.CP/HRD; Ms. Suman Goyal, Jt.CP/HQ; Shri Sanjay Bhatia, Addl.CP/Personnel; Rakesh Paweria, DCP/HQ-IV; and the officers and staff of the Promotion Cell, PHQ.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Suman Goyal, Jt.CP/HQ.

The event was attended by senior officers of Delhi Police, the police personnel receiving honorary ranks, and their family members, making it a memorable and proud occasion.
