Gurugram: Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh has directed officials to complete all arrangements to tackle waterlogging in Gurugram before June 15. Emphasizing timely action, he said all departments must ensure necessary measures are in place to prevent inconvenience to residents during the monsoon. A follow-up review meeting will be held around June 15 to assess progress.

The directions were issued during a high-level meeting held at the Public Works Department Rest House in Gurugram on Monday. Senior officials from various urban development departments attended, including Principal Advisor (Urban Development) D.S. Dhesi, GMDA CEO P.C. Meena, Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, HSVP Administrator Vaishali Singh, Manesar Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Singh, Additional Municipal Commissioner Ankita Chaudhary, ADC Sonu Bhat, and other officials from NHAI, HSIIDC, GMDA, MCG, MCM, and the police department.

The minister emphasized strong inter-department coordination to address waterlogging, with GMDA undertaking work at nine vulnerable locations, cleaning around 160 km of drains, lowering verges and green belts for smooth flow, converting the Narsinghpur drain into a permanent structure, and strengthening drainage at key junctions like IFFCO Chowk, Signature Tower Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, and Hero Honda Chowk.

Meanwhile, sewerage work at 40 locations is largely complete with the rest to finish before the monsoon, alongside improved master drain connectivity. Micro STPs in parks are fully operational with regular monitoring, the long-pending Rajendra Park issue is in its final stage for April-end completion, and treated water supply has been ensured in 142 parks.
