The vibrant atmosphere of the Sonpur Mela came alive as Bihar’s celebrated folk singer Nitu Kumari Navgeet took the stage, captivating devotees with a blend of traditional and devotional songs. Organized by the Saran district administration, the cultural program featured songs inspired by Bihar’s folk traditions and the life of Baba Harihar Nath. Nitu Navgeet opened her performance with a soulful Ganesh Vandana and paid tribute to Goddess Durga with “Diera Bahar Aini He” at Jagdamba Ghar, emphasizing that Lord Ganesh brings auspiciousness and Goddess Durga’s blessings are ever-present. As the brand ambassador of the Namami Gange campaign and cleanliness initiatives, she further entertained the crowd with popular folk songs including “Paniya Ke Jahaj Se Paltaniya Le Le Aih Piya”, “Patna Se Vaidya Bulai Da”, and “Koyal Bina Bagiya Na Shobhe Raja”. Devotional tracks such as “Dekhe Ke Ram Ji Ko Janak Nandini Bag Mein”, “Siyaji Bahiniya Hamar Ho Ram Lagihen Pahunwa”, and “Mangi La Hum Vardan He Ganga Maiya” evoked deep spiritual emotions, keeping the audience enthralled. The performance was enhanced by accompanying artists Rajesh Kesari on harmonium, Ashok Kumar on banjo, Prince Kumar on pads, and Amarnath Kumar on dholak, creating a rich musical experience that celebrated Bihar’s cultural and devotional heritage.
