Faridabad-  A tragic incident occurred at J C Bose University of Science and Technology in Faridabad, where a 22-year-old third-year mechanical engineering student was discovered dead in her hostel room on Saturday. Authorities confirmed that the young woman, Vanshika, allegedly took her own life by hanging.

According to police reports, Vanshika had asked her roommate Pinky to leave the room on the pretext of changing clothes shortly before the incident. Vanshika’s other roommate was away visiting family for Rakshabandhan festivities.

The deceased student’s father, Avinash, has raised concerns, mentioning that Vanshika had a heated argument with a man named Saurabh, who hails from their village, prior to the event. Additionally, Avinash has accused a female hostel staff member of harassing Vanshika.

The university administration has confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to Vanshika’s death. A spokesperson stated that the matter will be fully probed and that any complaints regarding hostel staff harassment can be lodged with the police.

Vanshika was originally from Motla Khurd in Rewari district. Her father shared that although Vanshika had planned to visit home during Rakshabandhan, she postponed her visit to Janmashtami to avoid being shifted to another room.

The police have seized Vanshika’s mobile phone as part of their investigation. The post-mortem has been completed, and the body has been handed over to the family. No official complaint regarding harassment has been filed yet, but the investigation continues.

ASI Kuldeep Singh of the Faridabad police emphasized that all leads are being pursued to understand the reason behind this unfortunate incident.
