Faridabad: A public awareness program under the “Adopt Cleanliness, Drive Away Disease” campaign was held on Monday at the Community Centre in Sector 15, Faridabad. The event witnessed the participation of Haryana’s Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel as the chief guest, with Food and Supplies Minister Rajesh Nagar and Mayor Praveen Joshi as special guests.

The event began with an oath-taking ceremony for cleanliness. Speaking at the occasion, Minister Vipul Goel emphasized that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, has now transformed into a nationwide people’s movement. “Today, in 2025, this campaign is no longer just a government initiative but a social mission driven by mass participation,” he stated.

He further highlighted that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the campaign is being successfully implemented across Haryana. “Cleanliness is not just the government’s duty but a moral obligation of every citizen,” Goel said. He urged citizens to voluntarily contribute at least 100 hours annually and 2 hours weekly towards cleanliness efforts. “If each individual ensures cleanliness within a 100-meter radius of their home or office, the entire city will be transformed,” he added.
Minister Rajesh Nagar praised the campaign’s alignment with Prime Minister Modi’s motto, “Cleanliness is Service.” He acknowledged Faridabad’s rapid development as a leading industrial and urban hub of Haryana. Citing infrastructure improvements such as power, roads, water supply, and especially the Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway, Nagar stated that these developments are reshaping Faridabad’s future. “Now, it is our collective responsibility to sustain this momentum by integrating cleanliness into our daily lives.”

Mayor Praveen Joshi stressed the importance of treating public spaces with the same care as private homes. “Cleanliness is not just a habit; it is a lifestyle that can prevent diseases and foster a healthier society,” she remarked. She called for a united front where every citizen contributes to public hygiene, helping turn the dream of a ‘Swachh Bharat’ into a reality.

The concluding segment of the program saw Minister Vipul Goel, Minister Rajesh Nagar, and Mayor Praveen Joshi distributing PPE kits to sanitation workers and flagging off cleanliness vehicles, showcasing their commitment to the mission.
The event was attended by District President Pankaj Poojan Rampal, Urban Local Bodies Secretary Vikas Gupta, Municipal Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata, Additional Commissioners Gaurav Antil and Dr. Vijaypal Yadav, Health Officer Dr. Nitish Parwal, along with several councillors, RWA members, social and religious organizations, NGOs, and schoolchildren.
