New Delhi — The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has entered into a strategic partnership with Hero MotoCorp Limited to boost early-stage startups through the company’s innovation accelerator programme, Hero For Startups.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in New Delhi, aims to strengthen India’s startup ecosystem by supporting ventures in the future of mobility, clean technology, and deep technology sectors. Under this collaboration, selected startups will gain exclusive access to Hero MotoCorp’s advanced research and development facilities located in both India and Germany, along with the company’s expansive dealer, supplier, and partner networks.

In addition to mentorship, participating startups will have the opportunity to work on paid Proofs of Concept (PoCs), enabling them to test their innovations in real-world environments, conduct successful pilots, and secure critical market exposure.

Speaking on the occasion, DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv highlighted that the initiative aligns with the government’s mission to address India’s mobility challenges through product-focused innovation.

“By connecting industry expertise with grassroots solutions, we aim to fast-track the journey from idea to impact, especially in emerging technologies and Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets,” he stated.

Echoing this vision, Hero MotoCorp Executive Chairman Dr. Pawan Munjal emphasised the company’s role as both a market leader and a nation-builder, in line with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “India’s vibrant startup ecosystem is a driving force in building a self-reliant and globally competitive Bharat. This partnership reflects our commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial spirit and innovation,” Dr. Munjal said.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Sumeet Jarangal, Director at DPIIT, and  Utkarsh Mishra, Global Innovation Portfolio Lead at Hero MotoCorp, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

Officials believe the collaboration will open new pathways for innovation-led industrial growth, furthering national initiatives such as Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Viksit Bharat@2047.
