New Delhi, July 18, 2025 — Panic gripped the national capital on Friday morning as more than 20 schools across Delhi received bomb threat emails, prompting swift search operations and heightened security measures. Bomb disposal squads and police teams have been deployed to affected campuses, officials confirmed.

Among the schools that received threatening emails are St Xavier’s School in Civil Lines, Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar, Abhinav Public School in Rohini, and The Sovereign School in Rohini. Authorities have stated that the full list of impacted institutions is still being compiled.

This marks the third consecutive day of such threats in Delhi, following bomb hoax emails to at least seven schools on Wednesday and two prominent educational institutions—St Stephen’s College and St Thomas School—on Tuesday. On Monday, three other city schools had received similar messages, all later declared as hoaxes.

The Delhi Police confirmed that a 12-year-old student from South Delhi had been identified as the sender of one of the earlier hoax emails. The boy allegedly used his personal phone to send the message and is currently undergoing treatment for a mental health condition. He has been questioned, counselled, and allowed to return home.

The wave of threats has triggered a political storm. AAP leader and former Delhi CM Atishi sharply criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which currently governs Delhi through the central administration and municipal bodies.

“More than 20 schools have received bomb threats today! Think of the trauma that children, parents and teachers would be going through. BJP controls all 4-engines of governance in Delhi, and is yet not able to provide any safety or security to our children! Shocking!” Atishi posted on social media.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said that search operations are ongoing, and all necessary precautions are being taken. “We’re investigating the origin and credibility of the emails. All threats so far have turned out to be hoaxes, but we are not taking any chances,” he said. While no explosive devices have been found yet, authorities are urging parents and school administrations to remain vigilant but not panic. Most schools have either suspended classes for the day or moved students to safe zones during inspections.
