New Delhi, September 6, 2025 – In a major breakthrough against the illegal firearms trade, the Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested two key members of a Madhya Pradesh-based interstate arms supply syndicate and recovered 15 semi-automatic pistols from their possession. Mobile phones and SIM cards used in the racket were also seized.
The operation was led by Inspector Anukul Panwar and Inspector Parveen Kumar under the supervision of ACP Rahul Kumar Singh, Special Cell/Northern Range.
On September 5, 2025, acting on specific intelligence, a Special Cell team apprehended Murtaza Khatri (31) and Wasim Qureshi (25)—both residents of Badwani district, Madhya Pradesh—from Burari, Delhi, while they were delivering a consignment of illegal arms.
08 pistols were recovered from Khatri’s bag.
07 pistols were recovered from Qureshi’s bag.
The duo had procured the weapons from an MP-based supplier to deliver them to a Delhi contact named Roshan. A case has been registered at PS Special Cell, Delhi, and further investigation is underway.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had been involved in arms trafficking for the past 4–5 years. They procured pistols from Madhya Pradesh at ₹15,000 per piece and sold them in Delhi-NCR for ₹25,000 each.
Murtaza Khatri, a school dropout after 3rd standard, came into contact with Qureshi and began supplying arms. He has a criminal history of 08 prior cases ranging from theft and dacoity to public gambling and assault.
Wasim Qureshi, who failed in Class 8 and ran a mutton shop, was introduced to arms trafficking by a customer named Sardar. He has been previously involved in 06 criminal cases, including gambling, assault, theft, and housebreaking.
Murtaza Khatri: 8 FIRs registered between 2014–2024, including cases under IPC sections 380, 397, 323, and BNS 303.
Wasim Qureshi: 6 FIRs registered between 2016–2025, including charges under IPC sections 147, 148, 452, 411, and BNS 351(3).
A Delhi Police spokesperson said the crackdown was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle interstate arms syndicates that supply weapons to criminals in Delhi-NCR. The Special Cell has been maintaining constant surveillance on Madhya Pradesh-based traffickers, and several such rackets have been busted in the past.
