Delhi Police Flags Off 55 New PCR Vans, 156 Refurbished Omni Motorcycles to Boost Citywide Response

New Delhi: In a major step toward strengthening emergency response and improving police presence across the Capital, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha, IPS, today flagged off 55 newly inducted PCR Mobile Patrol Vehicles (MPVs) and 156 refurbished Omni Motorcycles at the Police Headquarters, Jai Singh Road. Senior officers of Delhi Police were also present during the ceremony.

The expanded fleet aims to significantly reduce police response time, especially in remote, high-density, and congested areas, while enhancing mobility and visibility of patrol units. According to officials, the upgraded vehicles will further galvanize the functioning of the Police Control Room (PCR) Unit and provide swift, citizen-friendly policing across Delhi.

The newly inducted MPVs have been allocated to key districts including:

• Dwarka

• Outer North

• South

• South-West

• Rohini

• Outer

• South-East

The addition of these vehicles is intended to boost mobility, improve patrol coverage, and increase the overall responsiveness of PCR units across these high-demand zones.

The 156 refurbished Omni Motorcycles have been redeployed specifically to strengthen police presence in narrow lanes, thickly populated neighborhoods, and congested market areas, enabling quick access and faster action during emergencies or street-level crimes.

With the induction of 55 new MPVs, the total strength of the Delhi Police PCR fleet has increased from 802 to 857 vehicles, marking a substantial enhancement in the department’s operational capacity.

The Police Control Room Unit continues to be one of the most crucial frontline wings of Delhi Police, responsible for handling distress calls, quick interventions, and maintaining law and order across the National Capital.
