New Delhi : In the wake of the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations, Delhi Police today conducted an extensive outreach programme under its “Eyes and Ears” Scheme across all police stations in districts and metro & IGIA units.


The programme witnessed active participation, with thousands of stakeholders attending the programme in person at police stations. The participants included members of Market Welfare Associations (MWAs), Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), second-hand car dealers, hotel owners, fruit and vegetable vendors, security guards, porters and other community representatives.


The primary objective of the campaign was to engage citizens and enhance awareness about the “Eyes and Ears” Scheme of Delhi Police, which encourages public participation in maintaining safety and security. Under this initiative, citizens are urged to remain vigilant and promptly share information related to suspicious activities, individuals, or potential criminal acts.

As part of the programme, an enlightening discussion session was jointly conducted by Ranjay Atrishya, ACP/APRO and Kailash Bisht, ACP/Special Cell. The session was streamed live on the official YouTube channel of Delhi Police.To ensure maximum outreach, special arrangements were made at all police stations in districts and metro, IGIA units to facilitate live viewing of the session.
During the joint discussion, the role of eyes and ears stakeholders was appreciated as the first line of information. RWAs were sensitized to the importance of installing CCTV cameras, conducting tenant verification, and monitoring the entry of hawkers. MWAs were advised to enhance CCTV coverage, preserve footage, attend police briefings, and disseminate relevant information to members and stakeholders. Hotel owners were instructed to conduct thorough checks at the time of guest check-in and to meticulously maintain records of all occupants.

SIM card vendors were advised to strictly adhere to the Department of Telecommunications guidelines while issuing new SIM cards. Second-hand car dealers were urged to ensure proper verification of buyers and timely transfer of vehicle ownership.
Special emphasis was laid on the role of parking attendants and chemical sellers. Parking attendants were instructed to remain vigilant at all times and promptly report any suspicious activity to the police. Chemical shop owners were advised to exercise caution when selling chemicals and products that can be used as explosives, ensure the legitimacy and purpose of large quantity chemical purchases.

Key emergency contact numbers were also shared, including the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) 112 and Delhi Police ‘Eyes and Ears’ Helpline 14547. Citizens were encouraged to use these helplines to promptly report suspicious movements, unattended articles, or any other doubtful activities.

Participants attending the programme were provided with specially designed educational pamphlets. In addition, standees and posters highlighting the “Eyes and Ears” Scheme were prominently displayed at the venues. Short awareness videos were screened prior to the live streaming to reinforce key messages.
Today’s programme forms part of Delhi Police’s ongoing efforts under the leadership of Satish Golchha, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, to strengthen community policing and encourage a sense of shared responsibility for public safety.
