Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Launches Water ATM on Nirjala Ekadashi, Vows to Ensure Safe Drinking Water for All

NEW DELHI, 06 JUNE: Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta today inaugurated a “Water ATM” at the BL Block Government School campus in Shalimar Bagh Assembly Constituency. Cabinet Minister Shri Pravesh Sahib Singh, along with a large number of local residents, school staff, and students, were present at the event. On this occasion, the Chief Minister extended her warm wishes on the auspicious occasion of Nirjala Ekadashi and highlighted the significance of water service on this sacred day. She said, “It is meaningful that we are starting the installation of Water ATMs from a government school in Delhi on Nirjala Ekadashi, to ensure access to safe and cool drinking water during the summer season.” At the end of the program, the Chief Minister and the Water Minister also distributed water bottles to schoolgirls.

The Chief Minister said, “Water service is a vital part of Indian culture. While water is sold abroad, in India, offering cold water to passers-by is our tradition. Our government is committed to ensuring that no one should face difficulty in accessing drinking water during the summer season whether it is a passer-by, a street vendor, a daily wage worker, or a student.”

She further said that to provide clean and cold water across the city, the Delhi government is launching Water ATMs. These units are being installed, particularly in school premises and at key public locations across Delhi. These Water ATMs will benefit not only students of the schools but also the general public passing by.

The Chief Minister stated, “I do not consider myself a Chief Minister or a minister, but a humble servant of Delhi. Serving the people is both my duty and my dharma. When people say that ‘Delhi Badal Rahi Hai,’ that is the biggest reward and source of satisfaction for us.”
