New Delhi, March 30, 2026: The Delhi Legislative Assembly has concluded a crucial session marked by the passage of important bills, adoption of the budget, and restoration of the audit process, even as the proceedings witnessed a boycott by the Opposition.

Addressing a press conference, Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta expressed concern over the Opposition’s absence, stating that skipping House proceedings without a substantive issue weakens democratic functioning and public accountability.

The session, held over four sittings between March 23 and March 27, recorded a total working duration of over fifteen hours, reflecting what the Speaker described as focused legislative activity. Key outcomes included the passage of Appropriation Bills and amendments related to societies, along with the adoption of the Economic Survey and Budget.

In a notable development, the Assembly also introduced an artificial intelligence based chatbot named Vidhan Saathi to assist members in legislative work and improve accessibility to information.

The Speaker further underlined that, for the first time, no reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India remain pending before the House, marking the restoration of the financial oversight cycle. Several audit reports across sectors such as finance, public enterprises, and civic bodies were tabled and discussed during the session.
Additionally, the House processed forty four Special Mentions, reflecting issues raised by members under procedural rules. The Speaker reiterated that meaningful debate and participation are essential for legislative functioning, cautioning that disruption and misinformation cannot replace constructive discussion within the Assembly.
