New Delhi, 3rd September 2025: Constable Kartar Singh of Delhi Police has been granted an out-of-turn promotion to the rank of Head Constable for his exceptional courage and quick action in apprehending a notorious interstate burglary gang. The promotion was awarded today at a ceremony held at Police Headquarters, where Commissioner of Police Delhi, Satish Golchha, IPS, personally piped him to the higher rank and congratulated him on his achievement.

In the early hours of 1st August 2025, while patrolling near Asiad Village, Hauz Khas, Constable Kartar Singh noticed three suspicious men on a motorcycle. Upon being challenged, the suspects fled, triggering a 30-minute chase through several colonies that ended at Khel Gaon. During the confrontation, the accused attacked Ct. Singh with iron rods, aiming at his head, but his helmet protected him from serious injury.
Despite being outnumbered, Ct. Singh maintained his composure. After giving a verbal warning and firing one warning shot into the air, he discharged a controlled shot in self-defense, injuring one of the suspects in the leg. All three were subsequently overpowered with assistance from private guards in Asiad Village. The suspects were later identified as Sikander (injured), Darshan Singh, and Vijender Singh. Police recovered housebreaking tools and a motorcycle from them. During interrogation, the accused admitted to committing multiple burglaries and planning further criminal activities in the area.
Commissioner of Police Satish Golchha praised Constable Kartar Singh for his exemplary bravery and swift response, wishing him a bright career ahead.
