Shillong – Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) Director General Kanchan Prasad on Monday stressed the need for government communication to align with the digital age, urging area-specific strategies and closer coordination with state agencies.

Speaking at the North East Zonal Conference, Prasad highlighted the region’s importance in the national communication network and called for campaigns that reflect local realities. She assured that CBC headquarters would provide full support to strengthen capacity and address challenges faced in the region.

Presentations from Guwahati and Imphal offices showcased current initiatives and upcoming plans, while discussions focused on issues confronting field units. Deputy Director Harshit Narang also detailed how digital platforms such as YouTube, Google Display Network, Facebook, Instagram, X, and OTT channels are being increasingly used for targeted outreach.

The event featured training on the CBC portal for campaign planning and reporting, alongside sessions on administration and pending matters. A cultural performance by the Song and Drama Division marked the day’s conclusion.

On the second day, sessions are set to cover best practices from PIB North East, branch office inputs, social media expansion, improved Hindi usage, accounting systems, training on GeM, and Swachhta activity planning.
