Hisar Former MP and ex-IAS officer Brijendra Singh flags off relief for Punjab flood-hit farmers

Relief material for Punjab’s flood-affected farmers sent under the aegis of the Progressive Farmers Forum by Asha Jyoti Vidyapeeth Chairman and Congress leader Satyavir Dagar.

Faridabad: Former MP from Hisar and ex-IAS officer Brijendra Singh on Thursday flagged off relief material for Punjab’s flood-affected farmers, sent under the aegis of the Progressive Farmers Forum by Asha Jyoti Vidyapeeth Chairman and Congress leader Satyavir Dagar. Brijender Singh appealed to people to extend support for flood victims in the same spirit.

Brijendra Singh, who also served as Faridabad Deputy Commissioner, announced that from October 7 he will begin a seven-month Sadbhavana Padyatra covering all 90 assembly constituencies of Haryana, urging people to join in large numbers. He said that with the Congress organization now structured, its impact will soon be visible in the state. On the occasion, Satyavir Dagar sent relief including 1,000 blankets, medicines, and Rs.2.5 lakh in cash for diesel support to Punjab farmers.

Brijendra Singh flagged off the consignment from Asha Jyoti Vidyapeeth. Prominent attendees included Prahlad Sarpanch, Vikram Sarpanch, Ch. Chand Singh, Wing Commander Hari Chand, Maan Sarpanch, Gajendra Rawat, Prem Jajru, Ajay Sarpanch, Kisan Sarpanch, Om Prakash Bowra, Sushil Mindkola, Shivram PTI, Makrand Sharma, Duli Chand Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanjay, Rajvir, Tej Singh Sirohi, Rajendra Rawat, Satvir Kaliraman, Rajendra Malik, Avtar Kaliraman, Pradeep Dagar, Dalchand Dagar, Dabbu Tayal, Suraj Mann and hundreds of others. Speaking on the occasion, Satyavir Dagar said the disaster in Punjab cannot be stopped, but timely help can ease farmers’ suffering.

He noted that farmers’ problems can best be understood by farmer leaders like Brijendra Singh and urged people to strengthen Congress under the leadership of Brijendra Singh and Ch. Virendra Singh. He added that when the Sadbhavana Yatra reaches Prithla constituency, it will receive a historic welcome. Brijendra Singh reiterated that he is a Congressman and will undertake the padyatra to restore harmony in the state.

On questions about Congress leadership, he said the party organization has taken shape with appointments of the state and district presidents, and further appointments will follow, which will benefit both the party and the public. On the INLD leader’s CD controversy regarding the state Congress president, he remarked that such CDs keep surfacing, their truth can only be judged by the court, and the new president must be given time to work. On his own assembly election case, he said the matter is in court and its verdict will decide the outcome. He urged all citizens to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with farmers like Satyavir Dagar, recognize their rights, and fight for them. Calling the goodwill march a people’s movement, he appealed for everyone’s cooperation in making it successful.
