Ankapalle (Andhra Pradesh), June 12 – A tragic industrial accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday at Sai Sreyam Pharmaceutical Pvt Ltd, located in Parawada Pharma City in Andhra Pradesh’s Ankapalle district, where a toxic gas leak claimed the lives of two employees and left another in critical condition, local police confirmed.

According to preliminary reports, the incident took place while routine operations were underway at the pharmaceutical unit. The three workers, who were reportedly involved in maintenance or production-related activities, were exposed to a hazardous gas that leaked unexpectedly within the facility. While two of the workers succumbed shortly after exposure, the third was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Police and emergency response teams reached the site soon after receiving the alert. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway to ascertain the exact cause of the leak and to evaluate whether there was any negligence in safety protocols.

Officials from the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board and the Factories Department have also been notified, and an inspection of the facility is expected. Initial concerns point toward possible lapses in industrial safety standards and inadequate protective measures for employees handling toxic chemicals.

Local authorities have assured a thorough probe and promised strict action if any violations are found. Families of the deceased workers have been informed, and compensation-related discussions are ongoing.

Incidents like this highlight the pressing need for stringent safety practices in industrial zones, particularly in high-risk sectors such as pharmaceuticals and chemicals. Worker unions have demanded accountability and reinforced safety mechanisms to prevent such avoidable tragedies in the future.

As the critically injured employee battles for life in the hospital, the community and the workforce in Parawada Pharma City await answers—and justice.
