Dehradun – In a significant boost to Uttarakhand’s economic trajectory, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹1,271 crore during the ‘Uttarakhand Investment Festival 2025’ in Dehradun. The event marked the realization of ₹1 lakh crore in actual investments, making Uttarakhand a standout example of industrial growth in a hill state.

Sharing the stage with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, Union MoS Ajay Tamta, and Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, Shah commended the Dhami-led government for translating MoUs into on-ground reality and bringing in over ₹1 lakh crore in real investment—a feat he called “as difficult as scaling a mountain.”

Amit Shah outlined four major pillars of Uttarakhand’s upcoming growth model:

  • Ayurveda

  • Yoga

  • Organic Farming

  • Natural Healing

“These are not just sectors—they are Uttarakhand’s cultural and ecological assets. Their global potential is immense,” said Shah, highlighting how these areas would drive tourism, wellness, exports, and job creation.

  • Over 81,000 direct jobs created, with 2.5 lakh more indirect jobs expected from upcoming ancillary industries.

  • Plug-and-play industrial parks coming up in Haridwar, Dehradun, and Udham Singh Nagar.

  • Single-window clearance system established to boost ease of doing business.

  • Ropeways to Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib, worth over ₹6,700 crore, to revolutionize religious tourism.

  • New policies launched for tourism, startups, film industry, and AYUSH sector.

Shah emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured that small and eastern states like Uttarakhand are not left behind in India’s journey to become a developed nation by 2047.

“Until the Himalayan and Eastern states grow, India can’t progress uniformly. That’s why Modi Ji gave Uttarakhand ₹1.86 lakh crore between 2014–2024, compared to just ₹53,000 crore by the previous UPA regime,” Shah said.

He also mentioned key infrastructure milestones under Modi:

  • 88 new airports,

  • 8 lakh km rural roads,

  • Vande Bharat trains in 333 districts,

  • Tap water in 16 crore homes,

  • Free ration for 80 crore Indians,

  • LPG cylinders to 13 crore households.

“Modi Ji shattered the myth that development and welfare can’t happen together,” Shah added.

In a sharp dig at opposition parties, Amit Shah criticized their past treatment of the Uttarakhand statehood movement and urged them to stop disrupting development.

“When the state is progressing, it’s every political party’s duty to support that journey,” he asserted.

From Jyotirlingas and Shakti Peeths to Char Dham and Panch Kedar, Shah highlighted that Uttarakhand’s development cannot be stalled. The construction of all-weather roads, legal backing for religious infrastructure, and the growth of spiritual tourism all form part of a heritage-plus-development vision.

With projects rolling out across sectors—industry, tourism, infrastructure, wellness, and logistics—Uttarakhand is poised to become a model hill state in India’s journey to a $5 trillion economy.

“A developed Uttarakhand is integral to a developed India,” Amit Shah said, ending his address with a call to accelerate both economic growth and cultural preservation.
