Amit Shah Pays Tribute to Heroes of 26/11, Reaffirms India’s Zero-Tolerance Against Terror

On the 17th anniversary of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the Union Home Minister honours fallen soldiers and victims, asserting global support for India’s anti-terror stance.

NEW DELHI :Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, on Wednesday paid solemn tributes to the brave soldiers and security personnel who laid down their lives while countering the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. He also remembered the innocent civilians who lost their lives in what remains one of the most tragic and cowardly assaults on India’s sovereignty.

In a post on ‘X’, Amit Shah wrote that on this very day in 2008, terrorists unleashed a horrific and inhuman attack on Mumbai, targeting iconic locations and killing scores of people. He saluted the indomitable courage of the security personnel who confronted the heavily armed attackers and made the supreme sacrifice in their line of duty. He also offered heartfelt homage to the victims whose lives were cruelly cut short.

Calling terrorism a curse for the entire human race, Amit Shah underscored that such barbaric acts threaten global peace, security and humanity itself—making the fight against terrorism a shared responsibility of all nations.

Shah reiterated that the Modi government’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism is firm, clear and uncompromising. Over the years, India has strengthened its intelligence systems, tightened border security, enhanced counterterror operations and aggressively acted against networks that support terror. He noted that the world today recognizes India’s decisive stand and extends broad support to its anti-terror initiatives.

As India marks the 17th anniversary of the 26/11 attacks, the nation remembers not only the pain of that dark day but also the extraordinary bravery of those who protected Mumbai from even greater devastation. The Home Minister’s message stands as a reminder of the country’s resolve: terrorism will never be allowed to weaken India’s unity, spirit or security.
