Amit Shah Distributes Government Jobs to Families Affected by Poonch Attack; Assures Strong Response to Pakistan’s Aggression

Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir, 30 May 2025– Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, provided appointment letters for government jobs to the families affected by the recent cross-border attacks in Poonch. Joined by Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and other dignitaries, Shah reiterated the Centre’s commitment to stand firmly with the people of J&K during these trying times.

In a powerful address, Shri Shah condemned Pakistan’s attacks on civilians and religious sites — including temples, gurudwaras, and madrasas — describing them as cowardly acts. He emphasized that while jobs and compensation cannot replace the lives lost, they symbolize the nation’s solidarity and shared grief.

Shah also detailed India’s forceful response to the attacks, highlighting how Indian forces successfully dismantled terrorist bases in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir and inside Pakistan itself. “For the first time, we destroyed terror headquarters within Pakistan’s borders,” he noted. These actions, he said, were in line with Prime Minister Modi’s clear and firm security policy — no compromise on national integrity or civilian safety.

Following India’s targeted operations against terror groups, Pakistan responded with shelling on civilian areas in J&K. Poonch was one of the worst-hit regions. Shah said India retaliated by damaging nine Pakistani airbases and military infrastructure, pushing Pakistan to seek a ceasefire.

Shri Shah praised the courage shown by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack. He said their patriotism had strengthened national unity and resolve. He also highlighted the crucial role of over 9,500 bunkers built along the border under PM Modi’s leadership, which have proven life-saving during such attacks. Plans are underway to construct even more bunkers to ensure better civilian protection.

He assured the people that the central government would soon announce a relief package to support families whose homes and businesses were destroyed in the attack.

Concluding his speech, Shah declared that development in Jammu and Kashmir would not be deterred by terrorism. “There will be no slowdown. From 2014 till now, and in the future, the journey of progress will continue with the same strength,” he said.

He reaffirmed India’s national policy: “Terror and talks, terror and trade, cannot go hand in hand. Blood and water cannot flow together.”
