New Delhi : Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of eminent sculptor Ram Sutar, the visionary artist behind the iconic Statue of Unity. Remembering his immense contribution to Indian art and heritage, Shah described his passing as an irreparable loss to the cultural world of the country.
In a post on social media platform ‘X’, Amit Shah said that the demise of Ram Sutar ji is extremely saddening. He noted that through his monumental and historical sculptures, Ram Sutar ji played a pivotal role in preserving and showcasing India’s rich cultural and civilisational legacy, making it accessible and inspiring for younger generations.
The Union Home Minister also highlighted Ram Sutar ji’s significant contribution to the restoration of the ancient sculptures of Ajanta and Ellora, underscoring his dedication not only to creative excellence but also to heritage conservation. His work, Shri Shah said, will continue to inspire generations of artists and citizens alike.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved family and admirers, Amit Shah said that the nation has lost a towering figure in the field of Indian art. He prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength to the family and followers to bear this profound loss.
