New Delhi : Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah  said that the government led by Narendra Modi has significantly empowered small traders and start-ups through collateral-free loans under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.

Marking the completion of 11 years of the scheme, Shah said that over ₹40 lakh crore worth of 58 crore loans have been disbursed so far, benefiting around 12 crore youth across the country. He emphasized that the initiative has provided a major boost to self-employment and small-scale industries, contributing to the vision of a self-reliant India.

Highlighting the scheme’s impact on women empowerment, Shah noted that nearly two-thirds of the Mudra loans have been extended to women beneficiaries. He termed this as a “historic achievement,” adding that it has strengthened financial inclusion and encouraged women to become economically independent.

The minister stated that the scheme has played a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurship at the grassroots level, enabling individuals to start and expand their businesses without the burden of collateral, thereby transforming the landscape of micro and small enterprises in India.
