New Delhi, April 23 – UN Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned the “armed attack” in Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the loss of at least 28 lives. In response to queries on Tuesday, UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric reiterated the Secretary-General’s condemnation of the attack, expressing deep condolences to the grieving families. Dujarric emphasized that “attacks on civilians are unacceptable under any circumstances.”
The UN statement also referred to Kashmir as a disputed region between India and Pakistan. However, India has asserted that following the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the region is no longer in dispute and that the UN has no jurisdiction over the matter.
