India–US Air Force Strengthen Defence Partnership in High-Level Arlington Talks, Focus on Interoperability

Washington, April 12, 2026; India and the United States have stepped up their defence partnership through a series of high level engagements between senior Air Force leadership, reflecting the growing strategic alignment between the two nations.

The discussions were held in Arlington, where Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh met senior United States Air Force officials during his official visit.

The meetings were hosted by US Air Force Chief of Staff General Kenneth Wilsbach, who welcomed the Indian Air Chief with full honours, underlining the importance of the bilateral relationship.Both sides held detailed deliberations on enhancing interoperability between their armed forces, a key pillar of modern military cooperation.

Joint training exercises emerged as a major focus area, with both countries exploring ways to strengthen coordination and operational synergy during combined missions.

The engagement also highlighted the importance of capability development through shared learning and exchange of best practices in advanced defence technologies.During the visit, the Indian Air Chief interacted with top US defence leadership, gaining insights into operational strategies and evolving security frameworks.

The discussions reflected a shared commitment to addressing emerging global security challenges, particularly in the Indo Pacific region.The visit included a stop at Peterson Space Force Base, where strategic conversations centred around space based defence capabilities and future warfare preparedness.

Another key highlight of the visit was the interaction at Nellis Air Force Base, which is known for advanced combat training and operational excellence.Air Chief Marshal Singh also experienced a familiarisation sortie in an F 15EX fighter aircraft, showcasing the advanced combat capabilities of the US Air Force.

The engagements provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on complex operational dynamics and strengthen mutual understanding between the two air forces.
