Varun Dhawan Shares Ashtami Kanya Pujan Pics, Faces Paper Plate Criticism, Fans Come Out in Support

The actor celebrated Durga Ashtami with kids at home, but some questioned why children were served in paper plates while he ate from steel. Fans defended his choice, praising his humility.

Mumbai, September 30 — Actor Varun Dhawan joined devotees across the country in celebrating Durga Ashtami on Tuesday by hosting a kanya pujan at his home. The Bollywood star shared heartwarming photos on Instagram, showing him seated with children as they enjoyed the traditional meal of halwa, chana, and poori.

However, a section of social media users pointed out that the kids were served food on paper plates and plastic glasses, while Varun ate from a steel plate. One user commented, “Sir, you are eating in steel and feeding kids in paper plates, this is wrong.”

Varun’s fans quickly came to his defense, reminding critics that disposable plates are commonly used at religious and festive gatherings for convenience. “He’s eating at home, that’s why he has a steel plate. Kids often take disposable plates with them. There’s nothing wrong here,” one fan wrote. Another added, “People always find faults. Sitting with kids and eating with them is what truly matters.”

Despite the criticism, the post received overwhelming love from fans who praised the actor’s humility and festive spirit. Many highlighted that Varun chose to celebrate Ashtami in a simple, traditional way instead of opting for grandeur.

Durga Ashtami, which falls on the eighth day of Navratri, was marked by kanya pujan rituals across India. Varun’s post became one of the most discussed celebrity moments of the festival, reflecting both the scrutiny and affection stars face online.

On the work front, Varun Dhawan will next be seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, releasing this Friday.
