Vaibhavi Merchant Wins National Film Award for Best Choreography; Rani Mukerji Captures the Moment

BFFs Rani Mukerji and Vaibhavi Merchant celebrate their National Film Awards; Vaibhavi honoured for ‘Dhindhora Baje Re’ from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

In a heartwarming celebration of talent and friendship, renowned choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant won the National Film Award for Best Choreography for the song “Dhindhora Baje Re” from Karan Johar’s film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The special moment was captured by her close friend and actress Rani Mukerji, who won the Best Actor award for her performance in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.

The awards ceremony took place at Vigyan Bhawan, where President Droupadi Murmu presented the honours. Beaming with pride, Rani Mukerji captured Vaibhavi Merchant’s stage moment on her phone, highlighting their long-standing friendship and mutual support.

Vaibhavi expressed her gratitude on Instagram, stating, “Today is an extremely special day. As an artist, there is no greater honour than being recognised by the government. To receive the National Award for Dhindhora Baje Re, 25 years after Dholi Taro Dhol Baaje, I am truly overwhelmed and beyond words.” She also thanked Karan Johar for giving her the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful project.

This is Vaibhavi Merchant’s second National Film Award; she previously won for her choreography in the 1999 film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The awards marked a memorable day for both friends and their fans.
