Ashutosh Gowariker Congratulates Shah Rukh Khan on National Award Win: “What a Journey We Have Had”

The Swades director shared a heartfelt post for SRK after his Best Actor honour at the 71st National Film Awards.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 26 : Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, best known for his iconic films like Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar, and Swades, has penned a touching message for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan following his National Award win.

Gowariker, who was also a jury member at the 71st National Film Awards, dedicated a special post on social media celebrating SRK’s big moment.

“What a journey we have had… each forging one’s own path and today, to come together on this prestigious dais, which is the highest award of our country, to honour your incredible craft! Congratulations Shah,” Gowariker wrote, sharing a photo with SRK from the award ceremony.

The director and actor had collaborated on the much-loved 2004 film Swades, which is still regarded as one of Shah Rukh’s finest performances. The film bagged two National Awards at the time, further cementing its legacy.

On Tuesday, SRK was felicitated with Rajat Kamal for Best Actor by President Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, for his role in Jawan. He shares the honour with actor Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail.

The event also saw filmmaker Karan Johar and actress Rani Mukerji being honoured with National Awards.

Following the announcement in August, Shah Rukh had shared an emotional video thanking his fans, family, team, and the government for the recognition:

“Thank you for honouring me with the National Award. Thanks to the jury, the I&B ministry… Overwhelmed with the love showered upon me. Half a hug to everyone today…”

Since then, fans and industry colleagues have continued to pour in congratulatory messages for the superstar.
