New Delhi : Senior film actor A. Nagarjuna has initiated legal action against Telangana State Minister K. Surekha by filing a defamation suit at the Nampally court in Hyderabad. The suit comes in response to statements made by the minister that have reportedly caused significant disappointment and hurt to Nagarjuna and his family.
In his complaint, Nagarjuna alleges that Minister Surekha has deliberately spread falsehoods, fully aware of their inaccuracy, with the intent to damage his personal, professional, and family reputation. He claims that her statements were made with malicious intent, aimed at misleading the public and harming the reputation of both him and his family for political gain and sensationalism.
The complaint underscores that the minister’s comments constitute a criminal offense, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations. Nagarjuna’s legal move follows a controversial remark made by Surekha, where she blamed former Minister and BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao for the divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. This comment sparked outrage within the Telugu cinema industry, leading to a rallying of support for Nagarjuna and his family.
In light of the backlash, Minister Surekha later withdrew her comments, recognizing the impact they had on the film community. However, the damage was already done, prompting Nagarjuna to take a stand and protect his family’s reputation through legal means.
This situation highlights the intersection of politics and the entertainment industry in India, where statements made by public figures can lead to significant repercussions and legal challenges. Nagarjuna’s defamation suit serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible communication and the potential consequences of political rhetoric on personal lives.
As the case unfolds, it is expected to attract further media attention, not only for its implications within the film industry but also for the broader discussions it may ignite regarding the accountability of public officials in their statements and actions. Nagarjuna’s decision to pursue this legal route reflects a commitment to safeguarding his family’s name and standing in the industry, amidst a climate of political controversy.
