The cafe, which had opened earlier this month, was the site of a violent event on July 10, when several gunshots were fired at the premises around 1:50 am local time. Fortunately, no one was injured, though the property sustained visible damage, including shattered glass and bullet holes.
Despite the traumatic episode, the spirit of resilience triumphed. In a message shared on its Instagram page, Kap’s Cafe announced its reopening:
“We’ve missed you and are truly grateful for your continued love and support. With heartfelt thanks, we’re opening our doors again—ready to welcome you back with warmth, comfort, and care. See you soon, 8 am to 10 pm.”
Kapil Sharma also re-shared the post on his Instagram Stories, adding a simple but touching message:

Following the attack, the staff of Kap’s Cafe issued a heartfelt statement titled “A Message From Heart”, expressing deep shock over the incident:
“We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy… To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock, but we are not giving up.”
They thanked the local community and the Surrey Police for their swift response and support, and vowed to continue their mission of creating a space filled with hospitality and human connection.
According to Surrey Police Service, several staff members were present inside the cafe at the time of the attack. The motive remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing. The building housing the cafe also contains residential apartments and other upcoming retail units.
Despite the unsettling event, the community has rallied around Kapil Sharma’s venture, offering messages of encouragement and solidarity. The reopening marks a step forward in reclaiming the space as a positive hub for locals and visitors alike.
