Aayush Sharma Reflects on Back Surgeries and Redefining Fitness: “It Was a Very Different Summer for Me”

Mumbai, July 13, 2025:Bollywood actor Aayush Sharma recently shared a deeply personal health update that caught many fans by surprise. Taking to social media last month, he revealed that he had undergone two consecutive back surgeries. In a candid interview, Aayush opened up about the physical and emotional toll the experience took on him—and how it ultimately reshaped his approach to health and life.

The actor revealed that he had ignored signs of strain from his body for a long time, misinterpreting persistent discomfort as typical muscle soreness from regular workouts. Things escalated while he was on a film shoot when the pain worsened, prompting a medical checkup. It turned out to be a serious issue with his L4 and L5 spinal discs.

Rather than dwelling on the physical challenge, Aayush found a silver lining during the recovery period. “It gave me precious time with my kids and my wife, Arpita. We turned it into a bonding experience,” he shared. His son even took to cooking, preparing healthy meals like avocado toast, while the family caught up on movies and shared quality time that their hectic schedules often didn’t allow.

Reflecting on the broader lessons from his health setback, Aayush says his definition of fitness has undergone a significant transformation. “We often equate fitness with aesthetics, like having six-pack abs. But true fitness is internal—it’s about strong lungs, a healthy heart, and overall well-being,” he said. He admitted that during photo shoots when he looked the fittest externally, he actually felt the weakest.

Now, the actor has shifted to a more balanced routine that prioritizes recovery as much as training. He works out five days a week, devoting the remaining two days to rest and active recovery practices like stretching and outdoor activities. “Fitness isn’t just about how you look in the mirror—it’s about how you feel inside,” he noted.

Aayush also emphasized the importance of listening to the body. “When your body says it’s tired, don’t ignore it. Rest, recover, and reset. That’s what I’ve truly learned.”

As he continues on the path to recovery and renewed health, Aayush Sharma’s story serves as a powerful reminder that wellness goes far beyond the gym. It’s about respecting your body, staying present with loved ones, and nurturing your inner strength.
