Pune,27,february,2025: At the 26th Convocation Ceremony of Bharati Vidyapeeth in Pune, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla addressed the graduates as the chief guest, emphasizing the immense strengths of India’s youth, including peace, courage, patience, self-confidence, intellectual ability, and innovative thinking. He confidently stated that the upcoming generation has the potential to lead developed nations with their intellectual and spiritual abilities. Birla acknowledged India’s resilience in overcoming challenges such as technological and environmental crises and highlighted the strength derived from the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family), which has empowered the Indian youth to face future challenges and seize opportunities.
The convocation, presided over by Bharati Vidyapeeth Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shivajirao Kadam, was attended by several dignitaries, including Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vivek Saoji, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vishwajeet Kadam, Executive Director of Health Sciences Dr. Asmita Jagtap, Registrar G. Jayakumar, Controller of Examinations Dr. Anthony Rose, along with deans of all faculties and members of the management board.
During the ceremony, a total of 6,815 graduates were awarded their degrees, and 71 students received Ph.D. degrees. Additionally, 42 students who achieved the highest marks in postgraduate and undergraduate exams were honored with gold medals and certificates.
Birla urged the graduates, saying, “Education awakens a sense of equality and brotherhood. By achieving success in your chosen field, you will face new challenges in life, and it is crucial to continue striving to fulfill your dreams.” He commended Bharati Vidyapeeth for its remarkable contributions to educating tribal students from remote villages and enhancing the state and national development. He stressed the importance of youth strengthening democracy and addressing crises with self-confidence and determination.
In his speech, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vivek Saoji shared, “Over the past 60 years, Bharati Vidyapeeth has made invaluable contributions to the educational, health, social, cultural, and economic development of the country. The university has consistently prioritized research, receiving over ₹15 crores in grants for research projects. In the last year alone, more than ₹2.5 crores have been invested in research. Additionally, 18 startups have been launched in the past five years, with three new startups launched this year.”
