Mumbai, June 14, 2025 – Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the newly developed Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering and the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Building in Mumbai today. The leaders also performed the Bhoomi Pujan for SVKM’s upcoming educational complex, marking a major milestone in India’s pursuit of advanced, multidisciplinary education.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan called the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 a “philosophical document” that goes beyond administrative reform and serves as a roadmap to delivering quality, Indian-rooted, and globally relevant education. “Mumbai is the engine of India’s economy, which now ranks fourth globally,” he stated, urging youth to use technology to solve global problems, create jobs, contribute to GDP, and uplift underprivileged communities.

Pradhan emphasized that education in mother tongues, especially from classes I to V, is key to holistic development and cited historical figures like Aurobindo, Tagore, and Madan Mohan Malaviya who championed Indian languages in education. “Countries that educate in native languages progress faster — our children too can become global leaders by following this path,” he said.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the NEP’s transformative impact, stating, “It has replaced a static system with a dynamic and flexible one, offering students greater choice and encouraging a multidisciplinary approach.” He stressed that human capital is the future of economic growth and added, “We must prepare a skilled, technology-ready workforce for Viksit Bharat @2047.”

Calling Mumbai the start-up capital of India, Fadnavis said Maharashtra is leading in the innovation space and assured that the government would strengthen the start-up ecosystem with active support from academia. “We will incubate an ecosystem where the youth can lead the country,” he promised.

The newly inaugurated facilities, developed by SVKM and NMIMS University, feature cutting-edge laboratories aligned with Industry 4.0 technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR-VR), and 3D Printing — all aimed at equipping India’s youth for the future.

Other dignitaries present at the event included SVKM and NMIMS Chancellor Shri Amrish R. Patel, MLAs Ameet Satam and Parag Alavani, and former MLA Kripashankar Singh.
