District Red Cross Society & JC Bose University of Science and Technology, Faridabad, organize Voluntary Blood Donation Camp

Faridabad, November 28, 2024 – The voluntary blood donation camp, arranged by the District Red Cross Society in association with JC Bose University of Science and Technology, Faridabad, under the supervision of District Commissioner and President Shri Vikram Singh has been conducted successfully. Active support was taken from students and faculty members of JC Bose University as volunteers who donated their precious blood for this great social cause.

The Youth Red Cross Coordinator, Navish Kataria, who presided over the camp told that 140 units of blood were collected during the camp. He highlighted the urgent need for regular blood donation and how it can turn out to be a rescuer in times of difficulty.

The Chief Guest for the programme, Bijendra Soraut, Secretary, District Red Cross Society, addresses the gathering and motivates blood donors. In his speech, he briefed the students about blood donation. He said that the process of donating blood not only helps others but also keeps him healthy. He added that only those people can donate blood who are healthy enough and such an act builds up a healthier and stronger nation. He also appreciated the efforts of those who actively participate in humanitarian services, saying that the District Red Cross Society highly values their precious contribution. Purushottam Saini, District Training Officer of the Red Cross Society, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of blood donation in society.

He said that no other act is as significant as that of blood donation because a unit of blood can save the lives of two to three people. “These donors are true heroes, and they serve as an inspiration to others,” Saini said. “We owe them our deepest respect and admiration for their selfless act.” The university has collaborated with Suraj Prakash Hospital to set up a health check-up camp, aside from a blood donation camp. For the students, staff members, and other faculty, the hospital provided free screening services. During the health check-up camps, essential medicines were provided to everyone who participated in them.

The event was fully supported by various officials from the university staff who include Ashok Kumar, Arvind Kumar and Bhupender Yadav who greatly contributed to having a successful camp. Coordination between the District Red Cross Society and the University turned out to be the perfect example of community integration and humanitarian work that helped elevate awareness concerning the need for blood donors and healthcare.

This voluntary blood donation camp reminds us of the dire need for regular blood donations and how community participation is capable of saving lives. District Red Cross Society and JC Bose University of Science and Technology, Faridabad, wish to continue such efforts in the future, towards making society healthier and stronger.
