The Impressive TimesGandhinagar, Gujarat | 10 April 2025 – Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, addressed the inaugural session of the Annual Trade Expo 2025 organized by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) via video conferencing today. The event, which marks an important milestone for the GCCI, was attended by several dignitaries, including Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel.
In his address, Shri Amit Shah lauded the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) for playing a pivotal role in the state’s development over the decades. He highlighted that the Chamber, founded under the leadership of Kasturbhai Sheth, has been a significant catalyst for Gujarat’s industrial growth. For 75 years, GCCI has inspired youth with entrepreneurship, courage, and the zeal to establish businesses across the globe.
Shri Shah emphasized that with the completion of its 75-year journey, the Chamber is now on its path to achieving a century. He called on the leadership of GCCI to professionally prepare a roadmap for its future, ensuring that it aligns with Gujarat’s ongoing development.
Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah underscored the importance of small-scale industries and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as critical assets to the nation’s industrial ecosystem. He pointed out that many of the major industries in Gujarat have originated as small-scale enterprises, and it is essential for the GCCI to integrate traditional industries with modern startups.
Shri Shah suggested that GCCI could serve as a bridge between small industries, startups, and the government to create a robust and modern business ecosystem that fosters industrial entrepreneurship, especially among the youth of Gujarat.
Shri Amit Shah stressed that to remain relevant in the future, GCCI must go beyond organizing events and focus on establishing a permanent mechanism to support industries and entrepreneurs. He recommended that the Chamber set up systems that can assist industrial entrepreneurs and serve as a point of connection between the government, new industrialists, and the youth.
Shri Amit Shah praised Gujarat’s business-friendly environment, which is free from political interference, strikes, and unnecessary obstacles. He highlighted that the state’s pro-industry policies, developed during the tenure of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi as Chief Minister, have been further strengthened by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel. This supportive environment, he said, has been critical in enabling Gujarat to emerge as a hub for diverse industries, from traditional sectors to cutting-edge technology, IT, infrastructure, and startups.
Shri Shah mentioned that under Prime Minister Shri Modi’s leadership, Gujarat has made tremendous strides in creating world-class infrastructure and a business-friendly atmosphere, which continues to attract investment and drive economic growth.
Shri Shah highlighted the significant contributions made by Gujarat to the global economy, including several pioneering projects that will shape the global economy over the next 25 years. He mentioned Gujarat’s achievements, such as:

The Dholera Smart City, India’s largest greenfield project
The Surat-Chennai Expressway, the second-longest expressway in India
GIFT City, India’s first international financial hub
India’s first bullet train project and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail
He emphasized that Gujarat, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, has established a robust industrial development infrastructure and progressive policies that will continue to drive the state’s growth in the coming years.
Shri Amit Shah also acknowledged the significant contribution of GCCI to the Vibrant Gujarat initiative, a global platform that has enhanced the state’s global recognition. He praised the Chamber’s role in shaping Gujarat’s industrial landscape and its consistent dialogue with the government. Furthermore, he highlighted the Chamber’s resilience in times of adversity, such as during the devastating earthquake of 2001, and its steadfast commitment to the state’s economic progress.
The Union Home Minister concluded his address by noting that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has made remarkable progress in various sectors, emerging as a global leader.
