New Delhi–  Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, launched the Unified RERA Portal at the 5th Meeting of the Central Advisory Council (CAC) held at Sankalp Bhawan, K.G. Marg, New Delhi. The meeting, organized under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA), reviewed the progress of RERA implementation, resolution of stalled projects, homebuyers’ grievances, and developer-related issues. The event witnessed participation from RERA chairpersons, state government secretaries, central government representatives, homebuyer groups, and industry associations.

The launch of the Unified RERA Portal (rera.mohua.gov.in) marks a major step in enhancing transparency, accountability, and best practice sharing across States and Union Territories. Speaking at the occasion, Manohar Lal said the portal is aimed at strengthening governance in the real estate sector while empowering homebuyers. “RERA has ensured timely delivery of projects, introduced discipline in the sector, and empowered homebuyers. States and UTs must implement the Act in its true spirit to protect citizens’ interests,” he added.

Minister of State for Housing & Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, noted that over the past eight years, RERA has emerged as a transformative reform, instilling confidence among homebuyers and developers alike. He emphasized the need for faster resolution of grievances and revival of stalled projects to further enhance trust in the sector. Secretary, Housing & Urban Affairs, Srinivas Katikithala, highlighted that RERA has brought systemic changes through mandatory project registration, public disclosures, and grievance redressal, and that the CAC meeting would provide strategic guidance for the sector’s continued growth.

Key discussions during the meeting included the progress of RERA across States/UTs, with 35 States/UTs establishing Real Estate Regulatory Authorities, 29 setting up Appellate Tribunals, and 27 appointing Adjudicating Officers. Nationwide, 1,51,113 projects and 1,06,545 agents are registered under RERA, with 1,47,383 complaints disposed of by regulatory authorities. The Council also discussed the implementation of recommendations on stalled projects, with Uttar Pradesh being cited as a model for other States to follow.

The importance of the new Unified RERA Portal was emphasized for building a nationwide database, facilitating AI-driven project monitoring, and enabling prospective homebuyers to make informed decisions. Discussions also addressed uniformity in RERA implementation, faster registration processes, compliance enforcement, curbing misleading advertisements, and streamlining rules in alignment with the parent Act.

The CAC concluded by calling for effective implementation of RERA in letter and spirit, focusing on next-generation reforms to strengthen the real estate sector and enhance transparency, accountability, and trust between developers and homebuyers.
