India’s largest Medical Devices Park in YEIDA witnesses major development push

CM’s Advisor Avnish Awasthi and Dr. G.N. Singh assess progress at 350-acre facility in Sector-28; 89 plots allotted, major investments underway, and global exports set to rise.

Greater Noida: In a significant step towards bolstering India’s healthcare manufacturing infrastructure, Chief Minister’s Advisor Avnish Awasthi and former Drug Controller General of India Dr. G.N. Singh visited the ambitious Medical Devices Park located in Sector-28 of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Saturday.

They were warmly welcomed by YEIDA’s Chief Executive Officer Rakesh Kumar Singh, who provided a comprehensive briefing on the current status of this 350-acre project, which is being developed with support from the Government of India and is poised to become India’s largest medical devices hub.

During the review meeting, Additional CEO Kapil Singh informed that the authority has already allotted 89 plots under the Medical Devices Park project. Out of these, 65 allottees have received their compliance checklists, 47 have completed their plot registrations, 10 building plans have been approved, and 7 companies have begun on-site construction, marking significant progress in the implementation phase.

Recognizing the pace of progress, CEO Rakesh Singh instructed the project department to finalize lease plans for all 89 allottees within one week. The construction of Common Scientific Facility buildings, as mandated under the Government of India scheme, is in its final stages. However, CEO also noted that several companies, despite completing lease formalities, have yet to start construction prompting the administration to seek updated project plans (DPRs) from all such firms.

Avnish Awasthi emphasized the importance of conducting pre-bid meetings for all upcoming RFPs to ensure transparency and stakeholder engagement.

Dr. G.N. Singh suggested that the Medical Devices Park Promotional Council office be set up within the administrative building, along with key regulatory offices such as the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), CDSCO, and the State Licensing Authority. This would help streamline licensing, certification, and training support for manufacturing companies.

The review also saw participation from Dr. Ajay Sachan (Deputy Drug Controller), Dr. Selvarajan (Director & Scientific Officer, IPC), and the State Drug Controller, who assured industry players of support in obtaining necessary certifications like ISO and Device Safety Certificates.

Industry representatives were also present at the meeting and shared insights into their upcoming products and investment plans. Notably, Avience Biomedical is investing Rs.22 crore, while Syon Med Tech is setting up a factory over 80,000 square feet with an investment of Rs.80 crore, incorporating advanced U.S. technology. Syon Med Tech’s products are already being exported to 22 countries, underscoring the global potential of the Medical Devices Park.

A request for loan assistance was raised by Sharad Jain of Krish Medicos, to which Awasthi directed YEIDA officials to extend all possible help in securing bank financing for eligible allottees.

CEO Rakesh Singh also gathered feedback from companies on facilities required at the Common Scientific Center, ensuring their needs will be prioritized.

Awasthi concluded the meeting by setting a clear target: “Today is July 12 – a progressive report must be submitted by August 15.”

The review was also attended by senior YEIDA officials including Kapil Singh (Additional CEO), Shailendra Bhatia & Shailendra Kumar Singh (Special Executives), Praveen Mittal (Executive Director, MDP Promotional Council), Rajendra Bhati (GM – Project), Mehram Singh (Special Executive), Chief Engineer UPPCL, and AGM Smita Singh, among others.
