New Delhi, July 25 – India reinforced its position as a global content powerhouse by hosting the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, a landmark event aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to establish India as a global content creation hub. The summit brought together over 1 lakh participants from 100+ countries, including creators, media professionals, investors, producers, tech pioneers, and policymakers.
Held in Delhi, WAVES 2025 featured more than 140 sessions, including 50 plenaries, 35 masterclasses, and 55 breakout sessions led by renowned industry figures. The summit served as a vibrant platform to exchange ideas, build collaborations, and explore emerging technologies in the Media & Entertainment (M&E) sector.
Global Media Dialogue: A high-level deliberation among public and private stakeholders on the evolving role of media and entertainment. It culminated in the WAVES Declaration to promote digital inclusion and peace through media.
WaveX: A dedicated startup innovation zone that hosted a live two-day pitching event for media-tech startups to showcase their ideas to global investors.
WAVES Bazaar: Facilitated over 3,000 B2B meetings and functioned as a dynamic marketplace for scripts, music, comics, and AV rights, significantly boosting India’s creative economy.
MoUs Worth ₹8,000 Crore: Strategic agreements were signed for investment in film cities, creative technology education, and live entertainment infrastructure, paving the way for significant industry expansion.
Create in India Challenge (CIC): A mega global talent hunt across 34 creative categories such as animation, gaming, AR/VR, and music. The challenge saw over 1 lakh registrations, spotlighting India’s next-gen talent.
Creatosphere: Featured competitions, masterclasses, and live performances celebrating emerging Indian talent.
Bharat Pavilion: Offered an immersive look into India’s storytelling heritage and soft power, attracting global attention.
8th National Community Radio Conference: Recognized 12 community radio stations for innovation and inclusivity, promoting local storytelling.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, highlighted that WAVES 2025 was a resounding success in positioning India as a creative leader and media hub of the future.
