PM Modi Asks Delhi-NCR Residents to Stay Safe and Calm After Earthquake

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for calm and safety precautions after tremors were felt in Delhi and surrounding areas this morning. In a social media post, the Prime Minister urged citizens to remain alert and follow safety guidelines in the wake of the earthquake, which caused widespread concern but no immediate reports of significant damage or casualties. Modi also forewarned people to stay vigilant for possible aftershocks, as earthquakes of this magnitude often lead to further tremors.

The Prime Minister reassured the public that authorities were closely monitoring the situation and working to ensure the safety of all citizens. “I urge everyone to stay calm, follow safety instructions, and stay alert for any possible aftershocks,” Modi stated. His message was aimed at reducing panic while ensuring that residents took necessary precautions in case of further seismic activity. Modi also highlighted the importance of following the advice of local authorities and emergency services.

The tremors were felt across Delhi and parts of the National Capital Region (NCR), with people rushing to open spaces and checking for any signs of damage. As the region has witnessed occasional earthquakes in the past, citizens are generally aware of the necessary steps to take during such events. Authorities have urged people to avoid crowded areas and follow safety protocols such as dropping to the ground, taking cover, and holding on until the shaking stops.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and local agencies have been working to assess any structural damages and are ready to respond to any emergency situations. In the hours following the tremors, emergency teams were deployed to ensure that no one was trapped or injured. Building inspections were conducted to ensure structural integrity, and hospitals were put on alert in case of any casualties.

As the region remains on edge with the possibility of aftershocks, citizens have been advised to stay updated through official channels, including the NDMA, which continues to issue safety advisories. Prime Minister Modi’s statement has been well-received as a calming measure, offering reassurance that the situation is under control.

Delhi residents, accustomed to occasional seismic activity, have responded by remaining cautious but not panicking.
